On April 29, 2026, My Phuong Trading Co., Ltd. (MPCo) successfully completed the acceptance testing and energization of the capacitor bank at Son Tay 110kV Substation, under Package No. 3: Supply of 110kV shunt capacitor banks, including installation, connection, and system completion at 110kV substations, invested by Hanoi High Voltage Grid Company.
The project was implemented on schedule, fully meeting the technical requirements of the power sector, contributing to improved power quality, enhanced power factor, and voltage stability within the substation’s operating area.

The capacitor bank system is manufactured by Eaton’s Cooper, a world-leading brand with 80 years of experience in capacitor manufacturing. The project uses EX-7L single-phase, two-bushing medium-voltage capacitor units, with a rated voltage of 15kV and a capacity of 565kVAr.
The commissioning of the capacitor bank system brings the following benefits:
- Improve reactive power compensation capability for the regional power grid.
- Improve power factor and power quality.
- Stabilize the operating voltage at Son Tay 110kV Substation.
- Reduce power losses on the grid.
