Power system analysis and simulation software (CYME) for EVNNPC

Project Information

In the context of increasing demands for ensuring stable, safe, and economical operation of the power system during the 2021–2025 period, along with the trend of applying medium-voltage grid automation (DMS) solutions, the deployment of a specialized software tool for power system analysis and simulation has become an urgent requirement for power companies under EVNNPC.

The project: “Provision of power system analysis and simulation software to support operation and management activities” by EVNNPC is implemented to support the following tasks:

• Short-circuit calculation
• Protection relay coordination
• Optimization of network loop opening points
• Optimization of capacitor bank placement
• Development of operational strategies and planning
• Support planning activities and loss assessment

In October 2025, My Phuong Trading Co., Ltd. (MPCo) provided CYME power system analysis and simulation software licenses from Eaton to EVNNPC as follows:

• 20 basic licenses for 20 Power Companies (PCs) to support data development and maintenance, as well as basic calculations.
• 04 advanced licenses shared among 20 Power Companies (PCs) for use in loss assessment reports, operational planning and strategy development (optimal open points, tap changer selection), network planning (grid development, capacitor placement), and protection relay performance evaluation reports
• 01 full license for advanced grid analysis, including stability studies, renewable energy integration, line parameter calculations, EV charging station integration and distribution, as well as reliability assessment, loss analysis, operational planning/strategy development, and network planning.

The CYME software provides a comprehensive solution for power system calculation, simulation, and analysis, fully meeting the operational management needs of a large-scale power distribution corporation.

Along with providing the software licenses, MPCo closely coordinated with Eaton’s experts to organize technical training programs and deliver in-depth technology transfer.

The program includes:

• In-depth theoretical training
• Hands-on simulation training
• Support for installation and database configuration

Over 60 engineers from power companies under EVNNPC participated and received direct training throughout the implementation process.
