On April 28, 2024, Kim Dong 220kV Substation (Hung Yen Province), under Package No. 5: Supply and transportation of primary equipment and materials for the Northern Power Transmission Grid Capacitor Installation Project 2024, was successfully inspected, commissioned, and energized for the capacitor bank.

The capacitor bank is manufactured by Eaton’s Cooper, a company with over 80 years of experience in the electrical equipment industry. It utilizes internally fused capacitor units of the EX-7Li type, with a rated voltage of 15kV and a capacity of 565 kVAr per unit, with a total of 120 units (50MVAr per bank).
The commissioning of the capacitor bank contributes to maintaining transmission grid voltage in the Northern region within permissible limits, meeting the increasing power demand of critical loads. It also enhances the stability of power supply, reduces power and energy losses, and thereby improves the operational and business efficiency of Vietnam Electricity (EVN).
